We only have one race dog at the moment and he won at out locall track, Thurles, last Friday. It was an A2 contest, and he was due a win after reaching two stake finals inn the last couple of months. Now that he's off the mark let's hope for some more success! Our dogs get individual attention and with just four in the kennels at the moment they are enjoying the freedom of Tipperary!

Shell Out (Droopys Vieri/Olybean) is another new brood we have purchased especially for breeding. Olybean was a great racer, winning the English Puppy Derby and getting to the Arc final. Shelly is from a good open race litter which includes Olygirl who has won a number of NGRC opens and was just beaten in a photo finish in the 668 open at Wimbledon on Derby final night. I;m really looking forward to breeding from her (she's the one with the muzzle). With Sophie and Shelly we have two maiden bitches from great lines.
The third brood is Merry Sarah, a bitch who did 29.60 at Thurles at 16 months old, and who ran with small niggles throughout her career. She has had one litter (to Droopys Brooklyn) and they were modest to tell the truth. But I'm going to give her one more chance with a totally different cross as she is in such great condition and I'm a natural optimist!!
So which of the three will break first.....? Watch this space!!
Here are the new puppy runs - we just need some puppies to put in there now!
Our three brood bitches are Sophies Marinas (Top Honcho/Las Marinas) = a great dam line going back to Tina Marina. Sophie is owned by the UK based George Smart, who has been a good supporter and friend for many years.
Sophie has been sent over especially for breeding. This will be her first litter and she has a great temperament and we're sure she'll be a great mother.
Welcome
Welcome to the Landfall Kennels pages. I'n not that good with technology, but will do my best to keep you updated with developments in the future.
Landfall Kennels is a greyhound complex based in a village called Roarstown, near Drom, in County Tipperary. We are in between Thurles and Templemore and have an ideal rural location to breed, rear and train greyhounds, something we are passionate about.
In 2008 we have spent a good few pounds getting the complex up to date. Our one and a half acres of land have three brand new puppy runs, covered paddocks and brand new purpose built kennels. Our intention is to keep a small number of greyhounds, concentrating mainly on breeding and rearing a couple of litters a year. We will have the occasional race dog and are closely located to Thurles, Clonmel and Kilkenny tracks, ans also enjoy a trip to Cork stadium when we have the right dog.
Landfall Kennels are owned by me, Glenn Laming. As an owner I was a member of the syndicate who won the 50,000 euro Irish Puppy Derby in 2004 with Droopys Brooklyn and the Romford Golden Sprint the following year with Droopys Sammer. The complex is run by Steve Burns and his wife Angela. Steve was an NGRC professional trainer for a number of years before his move to Ireland six or so years ago. Steves first litter bred in Ireland was a coursing litter of five pups. One was purchased by Noel Ryan, owner of this years English Derby winner Loyal Honcho, and the other four were reared by Steve. Two of these won four cups between them, including the Munster Open.
We have three brood bitches and are patiently waiting for the first of these to break in season. The runs are ready, the paddocks are ready, but still we wait!! I'll post more details about the brood bitches soon - meanwhile let's see if this blog is loading ok!!
