Shelly
Shelly is due to whelp her litter in early November and here she is with me a few days ago. She's definitely in pup and looking in great form. Droopys Maldini looks to be going the right way as a sire and we're really looking forward to these pups. Bruce is having a few weeks off and we're soon going to start schooling a couple of saplings so lets hope for some good news in the weeks ahead.

Latest news
Bruce finished 3rd in the final at Limerick, finishing very strongly so we're going to try him over a slightly longer distance to see how he gets on. He's entered in a tri distance stake at Thurles - the first round is over 600 yards but we'll give it a go.
Shelly is back after her mating with Droopys Maldini so fingers crossed for some pups in nine weeks time.

Bruce Qualifies For final!
After a disappointing run when going for his hat trick, Bruce (Landfall Scholes) ran in a 12 dog competition at Limerick last night and finished second in his heat, beaten half a length, after finding a bit of trouble early on. It was his first race at Limerick, so we are hopeful for a good run in the final. Here he is a few days before his race - enjoying a rare piece of sunshine! Of course, he had just been groomed a few minutes earlier so he decided to go and have a roll in the grass - typical!!
Puppy Sheds In Place
Well, the runs are now complete with three puppy sheds erected last week. Shelly is due back from her mating with Droopys Maldini today so early November pups should be born.
Steve and myself treated ourselves to a nice Tyrur Ted dog, just 12 months old, at the weekend and he is arriving today too, so hopefully some good news to follow on him in a few months time.
We've also taken in a young untried bitch for a Clonmel based owner -she looks well made so there's lots to look forward to in the months ahead.

Shelly's in season!!!
At last!! After months of waiting, Shell Out (Droopys Vieri/Olybean) has finally decided that it's the right time to have some pups and she will be mated late next week. I had a chat with Steve and we decided to go to Droopys Maldini for her first litter. This was quite a simple choice - looking at greyhound-data Maldinis top offspring are all from Droopys Vieri or Top Honcho (Vieris dad) bitches, so this is a proven cross. If it works properly the link below should take you to the test mating:
The puppy houses arrived and were erected on Monday and Shelly (on the right in the photo) broke on the Tuesday, so it looks like she was waiting for everything to be in place before she allows nature to take its course! We had the puppy houses designed and built by a local carpenter and he's done a great job. Photos will follow soon. I'll keep the blog going to follow progress of the pups right through to their racing debuts. Steve reckons Sophie (Sophies Marinas) will break soon and she is scheduled to pay a visit to Droopys Kewell when the time is right. So it's busy times ahead but we'll ensure the pups and the mothers get the best of feeding, exercise and handling. Roll on the puppy Derby 2010!!!

Two on the bounce!!
Our only race dog, Landfall Scholes, won again at Thurles last Saturday coming from off the pace to win the last race of the night in 29.29. He's the white and black dog and he weighed in at 82lbs so he's a big strong dog. The penny seems to have dropped with him now, as he also won last weekend. What price the treble??

Off the mark!
We only have one race dog at the moment and he won at out locall track, Thurles, last Friday. It was an A2 contest, and he was due a win after reaching two stake finals inn the last couple of months. Now that he's off the mark let's hope for some more success! Our dogs get individual attention and with just four in the kennels at the moment they are enjoying the freedom of Tipperary!
